This
afternoon the Senate State and Local Government Operations Committee
voted to pass HB 704 out of Committee with the substitute version
and the following amendments:

The
boundaries of the new city will be unincorporated South Fulton
as of August 1, 2014. This allows any annexation process to be
completed up until that time. The shrinking
proposed City of South Fulton, GA

Excluded
any references to the protected Fulton Industrial District being
in the new city.

Changed
the beginning of the 2-year transition period to April 1, 2015 -
after the election of the Mayor and Council.

Removed
references to employees of the new city being at will.

With the loss of the Fulton Industrial District and annexations by
neighboring cities the size of the proposed city of South Fulton
will continue to shrink through August 1, 2014.
